PROJECT DETAILS
This animation was created to explain Parent-of-Origin Aware Genomic Analysis (POAga), an innovative approach that enables detailed genetic analysis from a single blood sample. The project focuses on hereditary cancer conditions where knowing whether a genetic variant was inherited from the mother or father is clinically important.
By combining advanced sequencing technologies with epigenetic information, POAga can determine the parental origin of genetic variants without requiring parental samples. Led by a multidisciplinary research team at BC Cancer and supported by national funding agencies, this project aims to make complex genomic science more accessible to clinical and research audiences.
This animation was created in collaboration with members of the BC Cancer Research Institute, with support from AstraZeneca and MERCK.
